We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator to join our client, a leading Commercial General Contractor in the greater Orlando area. Responsibilities of this position involves evaluating bid opportunities, conducting assessments of construction projects, performing quantity take-offs, and preparing comprehensive bids.
Duties:
- Evaluate bids to determine the scope of work, consider site logistics, and assess construction risks. If necessary, create alternative bids.
- Prepare preliminary construction schedules to accommodate project needs, including potential overtime or multiple shifts.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and consolidate labor, material, and equipment quantities with their respective costs.
- Assess project-specific and client requirements, milestones, subcontractor capabilities, and lead times for materials and equipment.
- Prepare comprehensive proposals, including owner or client requirements, such as proposal forms, bid breakdowns, unit pricing, logistics plans, preliminary schedules, and project narratives, if necessary.
- Develop well-coordinated subcontractor scopes of work to align different trades and ensure comprehensive estimates.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with the owner or client to address any uncertainties during the bidding process.
- Participate in pre-bid walkthroughs to analyze site conditions and their impact on subcontractors' ability to work on site.
- Address any changes that occur after the bid and provide a detailed final bid price breakdown.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and vendors to define the scope of work and resolve any issues related to bid packages.
- Analyze subcontractor bid proposals based on price and scope of work, selecting the appropriate subcontractor for the project.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Civil Engineering or related discipline
- 3+ years of experience in the construction industry
- Construction background in Commercial Tenant Improvements/Remodels is a plus
