    Job Description

    JBA International is seeking an Underwriting Manager for a full-time/direct-hire position. This  position will be based on-site in Ontario, CA with our client, a leading mortgage firm. The Underwriting Manager will be responsible for the leadership and management of a team of underwriters to achieve the Company’s production and quality goals. The ideal candidate must possess extensive conventional, government and jumbo lending experience with an in-depth knowledge of mortgage processes. Additional requirements are a high degree of proficiency with various mortgage technologies and a dynamic hands-on working style in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must have strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a large team of experienced mortgage staff in their day-to-day tasks. Training, monitoring and maintaining adherence to all underwriting policies and procedures are also important characteristics of this individual.

    WHAT YOU WILL NEED Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience 5+ years underwriting experience and 7+ in the mortgage industry Working knowledge of Wholesale, Retail and/or Correspondent processes Experience with FNMA/FHLMC and jumbo products Experience in product and credit risk management analysis 3+ years of previous management experience required Current advanced knowledge of industry-specific underwriting guidelines and agency requirements Good verbal and written communication skills Ability to provide outstanding customer service in fast-paced environments Proficient working knowledge of computerized applications such as word processing, excel spreadsheets, database, presentation software, email and specialized business applications software NICE TO HAVES: Prior Encompass experience Managing Guidelines/Underwriting helpdesk DE/VA SAR certifications Train clients and Underwriters Prior accomplishments in process improvements
