Early AM Lifeguard - Merage JCC $18.00 an hour 4:45-9:00am (additional hours available) SUMMARY: - Under the general supervision of the Aquatics Director & Assistant Aquatics Director, the AM Lifeguard is responsible for assuring the safety of pool patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies as well as by on-site supervision of lifeguards and other on-duty staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: - Conduct member safety with quality lifeguarding. - Working in a team environment with aquatic staff, Merage JCC staff, and the general membership - Enforcement of pool rules and regulations - Display leadership, responsibility, and professionalism during and after work hours - Follow Merage JCC policies, procedures, and schedules - Prepare incident reports; maintain records and reports as necessary - Monitor activities in the aquatic facility to prevent accidents, minimize and report hazardous conditions - Display and promote good customer service skills with parents, students, the general public, and staff - Plan, administer, and attend regular staff meetings and training - Candidates must be available to work AM Shift 4:45-9:00 am M-F QUALIFICATIONS: - High school graduate or equivalent - Current Lifeguard Certification - CPR and First Aid certification is required to work at the JCC and is provided free by our in-house instructor. - 2yrs+ experience lifeguarding at a pool/waterfront - Lifeguard Instructor certification is highly sought after PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Ability to work actively outdoors while supervising children in an aquatic environment. - Ability to climb, walk, run, stoop, squat or kneel, stooping, reaching and stretching, bending - Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. - Ability to use senses which enable safe supervision including seeing and hearing - Exposed to water activities; including swimming, water sports - Exposure to heat and sun Job Type: Part-time Salary: $18.00 /hour Required experience: - Lifeguard: 2 years
