    We have a great opportunity for you to join our client in a Mechanical Project Engineer role in their Madison, WI office.

    Responsibilities

    Here is what we have in store for you:

    In this role, you will be responsible developing innovative and unique mechanical engineering solutions to align with project, client and project partner’s needs, and leads the mechanical team in implementing the solutions.

    • Leads and is responsible for the overall mechanical systems engineering design process on large and/or technically complex projects.
    • Works collaboratively with the client and project partners to identify project technical requirements and user needs and offers technically sound advice and innovative solutions.
    • Collaborates with the Project Manager and engineering design team to develop and manage a project work plan.
    • Leads and is responsible for the overall production and quality of project deliverables.
    • Reviews the layout of systems and equipment with project team members, project partners and clients.
    • Performs and/or evaluates/oversees system calculations, and sizing and selection of major system components.
    • Actively shares and presents lessons learned and suggests continuous improvement initiatives within the mechanical discipline.
    • In conjunction with the Project Manager, acts as a primary point of contact with project partners and client on design issues.
    • Maintains an awareness of client satisfaction and alerts Project Manager of any concerns.
    • Understands business and interpersonal dynamics of working with co-workers, clients and project partners, and responds appropriately seeking support as needed.
    • Collaborates with the Project Manager in the development of design budgets and schedules.
    • Anticipates, identifies, and plans design work required to meet project deadlines. Effectively adapts to changing needs and priorities. Raises day-to-day and long-term staffing, budget, and quality issues with the appropriate people (Project Managers, Department Facilitator, DMT Leaders) in a constructive manner.
    • Delegates and manages work, identifies specific tasks, and balances work for Engineers and Designers in order to meet client demands and project deadlines. Provides appropriate level of oversight and reviews work to ensure established engineering principles are consistently used.
    • Engages in Employee mentoring through project work for staff at all levels of the project.
    • Uses effective written communication skills to prepare meeting notes, create and edit design specifications, respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and author studies and reports.
    • Travels to job sites to perform field verifications and field surveys.
    • Advances the discipline practices, processes and tools.

     

    Qualifications

    What you will need to succeed:

     

    • 7+ years of experience in HVAC systems design with an engineering consulting firm strongly preferred.
    • Relevant project experience may include science and technology (laboratories, pharmaceutical, etc.) healthcare, primary thermal plant design and government (national labs, etc.).
    • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
    • Professional Engineering License (PE) in one or more states.
    • Experience in communicating with clients, project partners and individuals at all levels in the organization.
    • Ability to work well in a team environment, including carrying out appropriate follow-through with others, mentoring, delegating work, and giving and receiving constructive feedback.
    • Proficient in computer operation for engineering calculation/selection software (EnergyPlus, Trane Trace, CAEPIPE, Revit, AutoCAD, HVAC equipment selection software, etc.).
