    Exciting Opportunity for a 2nd shift Quality Control Specialist!

    4 Day work week! Monday - Thursday 2pm - 12:30pm

    Key Responsibilities:

    As a Quality Control Specialist, you will be responsible for executing Detailed Inspection Plans, AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports, Certificates of Conformance, and Statistical data. Your primary duties will include measuring and testing metal and rubber products to ensure they conform to the customer’s engineering and purchase order requirements. Additionally, you will serve as a Subject Matter Expert, utilizing our company's cutting-edge measurement and test equipment.

    Key Interactions:

    You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including operators, leads, and supervisors, to fully understand customer design and requirements.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing machine shop environment, particularly with CNC mills/lathes, including EDM/WEDM.
    • Proficiency in ASME Y 14.5 GD&T with a strong background in Inspection Techniques and Measurement & Test Equipment (CMM and/or OGP experience is a plus).
    • Extensive experience in Contract Review and familiarity with various Customer Quality Assurance Requirements (knowledge of Honeywell and Sargent standards is advantageous).
    • In-depth knowledge of Aerospace Industry Specifications, including Mil Specs, AMS, ANSI, ASTM, etc.
    • Demonstrated expertise in advanced problem-solving techniques and quality tools, with the ability to apply LEAN Manufacturing principles.
    • Certification as a Six Sigma Green Belt (DMAIC) is desirable.
    • Related Trade School Certificate of Completion is a plus.

    Primary Routine Work:

    Your primary responsibilities will include efficiently navigating the ERP system, reviewing blueprints and specifications, selecting optimal equipment and techniques for inspection processes, and ensuring materials, processes, and products meet specified requirements. Additionally, you will be responsible for approving products and processes, completing First Piece Inspection, FAIRs, DIPs, and CofCs in a timely manner, and programming CMM and OGP.

    KPIs (Key Performance Indicators):

    • Reduce Scrap rate to < 8%
    • Maintain Type 1 error rate (Rejecting conforming) at an acceptable level
    • Eliminate Quality Escapes/Customer Returns
    • Manage Type 2 error rate (Accepting nonconforming) effectively
    • Ensure timely completion of inspection reports and meet or exceed current quality objectives for the role
    • Achieve First Piece Cycle time of < 1 Hour
    • Maintain department job dwell < 2 days
    • Complete Computer-Based Training on time
    • Maintain FOD-free area
    • Ensure compliance with safety protocols
    • Undergo annual eye exam on time

    Non-Routine Work:

    In addition to routine tasks, you will be involved in initiating Material Rejection Reports (NCR), investigating defects, working with planners to manage rejected quantities, and innovating improvements in the inspection process. You will also assist with customer concerns, train others on routine work, participate in internal RCCA, and prepare data for analysis.
