    Job Description

    The Development Manager role is an opportunity to join a strong chapter team reporting to the Development Director and working closely with local and chapter leadership, regional and national teams, and an outstanding group of volunteers to increase the reach and impact of the chapter. This newly created position enhances a mission driven, high performing chapter team that supports the type 1 diabetes community in Kansas, Missouri and Southern Illinois, with Kansas City and St. Louis as the major markets in the chapter. This Development Manager is an integral member of the relational fund development team, increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of fundraising and chapter operations. This includes managing, evaluating, and expanding donors across chapter programs. The Development Manager organizes and executes the chapter’s moves management process within the donor giving cycle with a primary focus on acquisition, retention and upgrade of mid-level gifts. This position provides opportunity to engage in the entire donor cycle from prospect research through stewardship. This position manages a portfolio of individual and corporate donors with an aggregate outcome to the mid six figures,  while also supporting other team members with moves management opportunities.

    The position is based in Kansas City. While staff are currently working remotely, the expectation is that staff will return to the office with a flexible work schedule when it is safe to do so. Responsibilities

    •    Collaborates with local staff as well as national/regional staff to ensure the Chapter’s growth and success. •    Identifies, builds, and stewards relationships with community, civic and corporate leaders as an integral part of volunteer and donor engagement. •    Leads and supports the identification and moves management (qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship) of revenue opportunities primarily in the area of mid-level individual giving and integrated corporate opportunities including corporate peer to peer programs. •    Provides support for the volunteer Corporate Development Committee. •    Helps identify and qualify a pipeline of leads/donors who meet agreed upon criteria for ‘mid’, ‘high-mid’ and ‘major’ giving potential, within and outside of our event structure.   •    Strategically and consistently utilizes donor database (CRM) to plan, track and analyze results of development efforts. •    Manages event planning and execution for stewardship events. •    Ensures personal accountability for meeting deadlines and responding to volunteers and other department requests.

    Qualifications

    •    College degree or combination of education and experience. •    4 years of work experience including 2+ years fundraising or relevant business/volunteer experience.  •    Strong CRM database knowledge, Salesforce preferred. •    Must be a self-starter, with the ability to collaborate as a team player. •    Strong verbal and written communication. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills. •    Ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers. •    Ability to create and manage processes that enhance efficiency of staff work while allowing for donor centricity. •    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint). •    Detail oriented.     •    Ability to travel within the chapter footprint. Occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
