    Job Description

    The Development Manager (DM), Signature Events & Fundraising is responsible for the successful fundraising, planning and execution of a variety of Chapter-wide events as well as the development and stewardship of productive relationships with JDRF volunteers, supporters and donors. Primary responsibilities will include managing several events such as dinners, galas, golf and business/industry focused gatherings.  The DM will be expected to meet/exceed annual fundraising goals by deepening existing donor relationships and developing new ones to maximize fundraising potential across the Chapter’s programs.  Additionally, the DM will collaborate with the entire Chapter team to support other deliverables, including the peer-to-peer and community engagement programs.

    This is a hybrid position with a minimum of two days a week in the office (lower Manhattan).

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Partner with donors, committees, and constituents to renew and secure new support through fundraising channels including sponsorships, table/ticket sales, Fund A Cure, auction and outright donations.
    • Manage a personal portfolio of approximately 50 accounts to develop increased giving and support for wider Chapter initiatives.
    • Utilize Salesforce CRM for community, donor and constituent management.
    • Develop expertise in required fundraising management platforms including Greater Giving and OneCause.
    • Ensure that the logistics and budget/timelines are developed and met for each applicable event.
    • Manage several key vendors such as venue, catering, and others across all events.
    • Oversee entire event(s) from start to finish, including the facilitation of applicable Covid-19 protocols.
    • In partnership with supervisor and team, manage and continually develop assigned volunteer committees providing leadership, cultivation, acknowledgement, support, and assistance toward fundraising success.
    • Manage and maintain accurate and complete financial records for each event and facilitate acknowledgements.
    • Ensure that all deliverables are met according to event donor/sponsorship agreements.
    • Create and implement Communications Plans for events such as the design and creation of invitations, social media content and other Chapter communications.
    • Identify, build, and steward relationships with community and corporate leaders as an integral part of volunteer and donor prospect development and engagement in JDRF activities.
    • Help formulate and implement strategies and tactics for Chapter fundraising and development activities for continued growth and maximum penetration of core market areas.
    • Maintain a good understanding of JDRF’s mission and funded research.
    • Support and maintain the vision, mission, priorities, and guiding principles of JDRF.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • 4 years of work experience including 2+ years fundraising or relevant business/volunteer experience.
    • Experience with event planning logistics in a fundraising environment.
    • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.
    • Superb interpersonal skills and the ability to “jump in” when needed.
    • Team oriented focus with the ability to work independently.
    • Experience with committee development.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM databases.
    • Proficiency using Greater Giving and OneCause preferred.
    • Adaptable and flexible in fast-paced environment, able to multi-task and handle several priorities simultaneously.
    • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to take on new projects.
    • Occasional evening/weekend work required as needed. Ability to travel within the entire chapter footprint, including occasional overnight travel.
    • College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Target Salary: $60-71k
