    Job Description

    The Outreach Manager will organize, develop, implement and expand the community Outreach Program for the Chapter, and will help expand Chapter fundraising results by building stronger and enhanced relationships with the local type 1 diabetes (T1D) community. 

    Specific responsibilities will include:

    • Develop and implement Outreach Program components in the Chapter to include, but not limited to T1D Connections Program, Bag of Hope/T1D Care Kit distribution and reporting, oversee community engagement event (support or education) planning and coordination. Strategically plan events and programs to support the T1D community and increase engagement with JDRF.
    • Lead efforts to expand JDRF's presence in the local communities that the Chapter serves.
    • Oversee Outreach Coordinator and Outreach Independent Contractor.
    • Support JDRF's Advocacy volunteer effort at the Chapter level.
    • Develop and oversee relationships with the diabetes professional healthcare community, including Chapter Medical Providers’ Council.
    • Work in conjunction with other Chapter staff as needed, to ensure Outreach presence and impact at all events. Including new Outreach Family Walk Team recruitment and stewardship as well as new Outreach guest participation at Special Events. Assist Outreach individuals and families in development of JDRF Walk Teams and chapter overall fundraising efforts.
    • In partnership with Outreach Coordinator, lead Chapter Volunteer Engagement Program.
    • In partnership with Outreach Independent Contractor, lead T1D Adults Bay Area and Youth Ambassador programs.
    • Oversee relationship management efforts for the Outreach Team, including accurate recording of data, communications, stewardship, and meetings in CRM.
    • In partnership with Outreach Team, plan and coordinate Outreach meetings, agendas, and activities.  Prepare Outreach presentations, materials, and reports. Some Outreach meetings may include but are not limited to: T1D Connections Program, newly diagnosed, partnership development, Advocacy, event planning meetings, etc.
    • Interface and serve as a liaison for all levels of Outreach staff and volunteers.  Maintain steady communication between JDRF International departments related to and including Community Engagement, Advocacy, and Marcom.
    • Assists with local grant/sponsorship resources to fund Outreach projects.
    • Evaluate Chapter Outreach activities on a regular basis and seeks ways to improve performance and community engagement success.
    • Respond to and follow through with inquiries, needs, and requests in a prompt and courteous manner.
    • Familiar with all JDRF internal Outreach/Advocacy and related resources and publications.
    • Maintain a good understanding of JDRF’s mission and cure, prevent, and treat research.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • 2 years of relevant experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience. 1+ years in a supervisory capacity required.
    • Knowledge of fundraising activities and organizing community initiatives. Volunteer management experience is a must.
    • Knowledge of administrative procedures, such as coordination of people and resources, planning, and resource allocation.  Experience with computer systems and databases.
    • Effectively multi-task, establishes priorities, and work in a fast paced environment.  Highly efficient in time management and can meet deadlines under pressure. Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.
    • Team player that has the ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.  Must develop and maintain relationships.
    • Excellent written, oral, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work and make judgments independently and take initiative.  Well-disciplined and a self-starter that is extremely resourceful.  Active listening, analytical, and problem solving skills.
    • Ability to travel locally required. Occasional overnight travel as needed. Occasional evening and weekend work required as needed.
    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience required.
