    Job Description

    The Development Manager will play a key chapter role in leading as well as supporting the identification and moves management (qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship) of revenue opportunities in the areas of mid-level individual giving for the chapter, primarily in Arizona and New Mexico. 

    Working closely with the Executive Director, Market Director and chapter functional lead staff, the Development Manager will help identify and qualify a pipeline of donors who meet agreed upon criteria for ‘mid-level giving potential, within and outside of our event structure. In partnership with the chapter, regional and national staff teams, the Development Manager will support acquisition and retention and be responsible for a mutually agreed upon portfolio totaling in the six figure range. This position will partner with volunteer leaders and committees to facilitate donor development plan creation and execution, and partner in the moves management process. This position will help ensure the chapter creates a positive, engaged, inspired and rewarding experience with all new and existing donors.

    The Development Manager will also be responsible for supporting specific components of our core fundraising programs, including serving as the lead staff for auction procurement for the Promise Ball Gala. 

    This role is an in-office position with some flexibility for telecommuter/work from home options. This will require comfort with, and confidence in, direct staff and supporter work accomplished both through in person and video teleconferencing means. Occasional other in-person staff, volunteer and community gatherings throughout the chapter geography will be required. On-site event participation will also be required as assigned.

    Responsibilities

    •    Serve as the functional lead staff for individual giving for Arizona and New Mexico. •    In partnership with the Executive Director and Market Director, support the direction of the chapter’s individual giving program(s), and planned giving pipeline development. •    Support the development and execution of plans for assigned projects and/or events.  Participate in fundraising related meetings as assigned.  Develop and assist in delivering presentations as requested. •    Identify, coalesce, and empower key individual giving and stewardship volunteer leadership.  •    Manages a donor portfolio with key metrics and milestones. •    Leads and supports the identification and moves management (identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship) of individual giving revenue opportunities. •    Helps identify and qualify a pipeline of leads/supporters who meet agreed upon criteria, within and outside of our event structure, including mid to major level opportunities.   •    Leads and/or supports Chapter activities designed to increase the identification, education, cultivation, and stewardship of fundraisers, donors, participants, and volunteers.   •    Strategically and consistently utilizes CRM data management tool to maximize efficient and effective moves management of donor pipeline. •    Assists in writing foundation grant proposals for mid-level opportunities.   •    Manage, execute, and serve as lead staff for auction procurement to support fundraising budget for the Promise Ball Gala. •    In partnership with the Sr Development Manager gala lead – identify, recruit, and empower a gala auction procurement volunteer leadership in support of gala fundraising goals. •    Utilize event planning and management software platforms. •    Accountable for meeting deadlines, responding to volunteers, Market Director, Executive Director and other Chapter requests.  •    Maintain a thorough understanding of JDRF’s mission and research strategy. •    Ensure the confidentiality and security of proprietary information.

    Qualifications

    •    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. •    4+ years fundraising / individual giving experience. •    Gala auction procurement and management experience a plus. •    Strong CRM database knowledge, Salesforce preferred. •    Must be a self-starter, with the ability to collaborate as a team player. •    Strong verbal and written communication. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills. •    Ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers. •    Ability to create and manage process that enhances efficiency of staff work while allowing for donor centricity. •    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)  •    Detail oriented.     •    Ability to travel within the chapter footprint. Occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
