    Job Description

     

    The JG Companies is an ESOP company and is looking for an experienced accountant for our Construction Division. JG is a well-established general contractor servicing retail and commercial clients. We offer competitive pay, benefits, and a great work environment. Our accountants need to be able to communicate with subcontractors, clients, project managers, as well as company executives. Must be a team player.

    Responsibilities:

    Accounting clerks are expected to manage all related aspects of account receivables, and payables for their team. These tasks include managing communications with subcontractors, vendors, and clients. Must have an understanding of Construction billing including use of AIA billing, fund control billing, releases, lien rights, prelim notices and other standard construction forms. Our accountants are also responsible for reporting and managing budgets for projects. All project level accounting requires strong communication with Project Managers, project owners, Subcontractors, fund control and Executives. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, precise, organized, efficient, and self-motivated. JG is a team environment and employees are expected to work with their team to accomplish their goals.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Minimum of an BA in accounting, or equivalent work experience.
    • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience in the construction industry, preferably for a general contractor.
    • Experience with project accounting, overhead, and cost coding.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Experience with accounts receivables, and collection calling.
    • Strong working knowledge of Lien Laws and procedures.
    • Proficient use of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
    • Proficient use of Spreadsheets, ability to create reports, pivot tables, and familiar with extracting data from other sources.
    • Ability to create or modify reports in Crystal Reports is desirable.
    • Experience with Timberline/Sage software is highly desirable.
