Title: JIB Accountant

Location: Houston Texas

Type: Direct Hire

Salary: $100,000 - $115,000

Summary:

Our client with the Energy Oil & Gas industry is search for a JIB Accountant to accurately record capital and lease operating expenditures, maintain accurate property, and inventory records, and ensure compliance with COPAS accounting standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, the ability to recommend accounting process improvements, foster a positive team environment, and be able to communicate monthly accounting results.

Duties:

• Process monthly Joint Interest Billing (JIB) invoices, prepare standard monthly JIB entries, monthly capital expenditure accrual entries and lease operating expense accrual entries.
• Relevant knowledge of COPAS **** to ensure expenses are properly recorded and allocated to partners in accordance with Joint Operating Agreements (JOA).
• Analyze partner/JIB receivable accounts to ensure timely and accurate payments.
• Joint venture (JV) audits including JOA, Accounting Procedure, and COPAS reviews.
• Manage and facilitate inventory accounting and compile report.
• Coordinate PP&E accounting including roll forward, work-in-process, and in-service reviews.
• Ensure operations reviews, and analytics data is disseminated, and including LOS reporting, budget vs. actuals.
• Maintain and enhance internal control processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information.
• Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations for assigned accounts monthly.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in oil and gas accounting within an Energy company is preferred.
• Knowledge of Joint Operating Agreement and COPAS accounting best practices and principles.
• Quorum **** accounting software experience preferred but not required.
• EnergyLink **** experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently and manage monthly deadlines.
• Proficiency working with MS Project, PowerBI, PowerPoint, and Excel spreadsheets with pivot tables.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
