The Property Tax Analyst works closely with JM Tax Advocates' team leaders in all aspects of job responsibilities including demonstrating knowledge of industry trends, identifying client issues and conflicts, and proactively communicating solution options to team leader to deliver property tax and incentive compliance, appeal, and consulting services for JMTA clients.
The Tax Analyst maintains focuses on delivering property tax and incentive planning opportunities. This includes researching issues, reviewing real and assessable personal property tax assessments, maintaining company workpaper database, and the preparation and presentation of assessment appeals and supporting litigation, researching available incentives, presenting and negotiating incentive requests, and documenting secured benefits and findings.
Responsibilities:
Monitors all aspects of the annual property tax cycle for assigned real and personal property portfolios.
Completes and maintains client workplans and schedules for associated project deliverables.
Inspects properties, where required.
Obtains and reviews assessor worksheets and property records, where required.
Assists with preparation of independent target values for each property assigned using appropriate valuation methodology.
Assists with preparation of client presentations.
Reviews and reconciles client data and identifies tax issues to research.
Responds to client inquiries and requests from assessing agencies.
Serves as a point of contact for client activity.
Assists with management of practice group needs (equipment, supplies, software, training, etc.).
Contributes to a team environment that demonstrates support of firm management and decisions while building a positive culture
Assists with the preparation, review, and processing of all client reporting requirements.
Assists in the preparation of abatement and exemption applications.
Supports team management of aspects of the appeal process (informal, formal, and litigation) and reports status and results to the client.
Reviews client tax bills for payment, where required.
Assists clients with accruals, budgets, and forecasts.
Supports team management with client billing and collections and company financial forecasting
Supports research and communication of new issues, legislative changes, training opportunities, etc.
Pursues and maintains professional designations (i.e., CMI, Indiana Level III, CPA, etc.)
Participates in professional organizations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
