    Job Description

    JMP Securities is a full-service investment bank that provides equity research, institutional brokerage and investment banking services to public and private growth companies and their investors. The firm is a subsidiary of publicly traded JMP Group LLC (NYSE: JMP).

    JMP is searching for an equity research associate in our SAN FRANCISCO office to support its senior analyst covering the INTERNET & DIGITAL MEDIA SECTOR. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and is naturally curious and open to learning new concepts, exceptional analytical skills, familiarity with financial modeling concepts, and a keen desire to learn about the Technology Sector and investing. The candidate would also have the ability to multitask, outstanding time management skills, and a passion for conducting and communicating proprietary and thought provoking research.

    REQUIREMENTS

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Create and maintain financial models
    • Perform financial analysis and due diligence
    • Write company specific and thematic investment-driven research reports
    • Conduct research from the primary literature, proprietary databases, tailored industry surveys
    • Attend meetings with management teams and investor conferences
    • Analyze and update investment themes and ideas across the Internet sector
    • Respond to requests from institutional sales force and from clients

    SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    • Exceptional academic background; a BA/BS in Business, Finance, Economics, or Computer Science preferred
    • 1-3+ years of professional work experience in Finance (Equity Research/Investment Banking a plus), Consulting, or working for a technology company.
    • Outstanding analytical and critical thinking skills with a strong desire to learn
    • Strong writing and communication skills
    • Familiarity with financial and accounting concepts
    • Strong work ethic, with a keen attention to detail
    • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a high pressure, team-oriented, and time sensitive environment
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
    • Knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, among other tools
    • Series 7, 63, 86 and 87 licenses preferred (will provide sponsorship if needed)
