Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Groton, CT

Job Type: Fulltime

Responsibilities include providing support to senior engineers across a spectrum of engineering tasks, from conceptual design and development to the assembly and testing of intricate electromechanical systems. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office) is essential, while familiarity with shop tools is advantageous. Successful candidates will possess strong technical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with guidance and mentorship provided by seasoned professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, analyze, and engineer advanced prototype systems.
• Fabricate, assemble, and conduct laboratory testing of systems.
• Participate in travel opportunities to assist in field equipment testing.

Required Attributes and Skills:

• Proficiency in 3D CAD Software.
• Fundamental understanding of materials, strengths, and statics analysis.
• Application of mechanical engineering principles to design mechanical components.
• Ability to conduct preliminary FEA on mechanical designs.
• Familiarity with mechanical hardware and common systems (e.g., gears, shafts, fasteners).
• Capability to interpret and generate mechanical fabrication drawings.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

Desired Attributes and Skills:

• Familiarity with engineering calculation tools (Mathcad, MATLAB, etc.).
• Basic understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing practices.
• Experience with 3D printing technologies and software.
• Proficiency with microcontrollers (e.g., Arduino, Basic Stamp, Raspberry Pi).

Qualifications:
