    Job Description

    ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perform a wide variety of activities and operations in support of the US Army Environmental Monitoring Laboratory (EML) quality assurance team and Aberdeen Proving Ground – Edgewood Area, MD.

    • Manage and lead the continued operation, upgrade, and validation of the Chemware Horizon Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) system.

    • Assist customers with various LIMS software, interface and hardware related technical support questions. 

    • Recommend and implement LIMS system enhancements as required to efficiently execute laboratory operations and improve the end-user experience.

    • Perform Oracle PL/SQL development to improve operations, efficiency, and reporting.

    • Execute Oracle PL/SQL performance tuning for queries to reduce database resource costs and improve data analysis and reporting speed.

    • Develop manual and automated testing scripts, and identify corrective actions, as required.

    • Ensure LIMS functions are conducted in compliance with current Laboratory Quality Management System requirements. 

    • Verify that all data integrity standards are maintained, and issues are mitigated in a timely manner. 

    • Communicate with US Army EML leadership when a quality issue with the LIMS is identified.

    • Act as the primary subject matter expert (SME) for the LIMS during audits.

    • Comply with audit readiness of the quality documentation, user lists and privileges, and procedures. 

    • Identify the most cost effective methods for storing laboratory documentation to meet auditing and certification guidelines.

    • Provide onsite and remote LIMS training to customers, as required.

    • Work with Chemware to incorporate upgrades and improvements, and troubleshoot issues related to LIMS access and performance. 

    • Provide LIMS quality and performance metrics to customers, as required.

    • Contribute to and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials.

    • Participate in a positive team environment across the LIMS user base.

     

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited University.

    • 5+ years' experience working with LIMS systems.

    • At least one year successfully performing as a Chemware Horizon LIMS Administrator.

    • Expertise with Oracle and SQL.

    • At least one year experience in a laboratory environment.

    • Understanding of routine workflows in regulated laboratories.

    • Familiarity with laboratory quality management systems and ISO 17025.

    • Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.

    • Strong technical writing skills.

     

    SECURITY CLEARANCE:

    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance at the Secret level.
