    Executive Director, Oncology 

    Description

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Responsible for identifying innovative market opportunities in biomolecule detection to enable strategic business decisions for market growth. Incumbent will serve as a knowledge leader in their field of expertise, representing the Company and identifying areas for new products and expanded services in biomolecule detection. Responsible for preparing and presenting Company content to the field and working directly with recognized thought leaders to identify their unmet needs and suggest innovative solutions. Incumbent will specialize in cancer biology, immuno-oncology, and/or multi-omics approaches to the understanding and treatment of cancer.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    - Collect and present information to enable strategic business decisions for the Company’s investment and growth in products and services in the specific field of expertise.

    - Fully define the competitive landscape in biomarker assays, tools for research and clinical development, and translational medicine. Summarize and report to management.

    - Gather and compile information about the unmet needs for biomarker measurements in the field of expertise, to inform new products and services.

    - Provide assay services sales team with guidance for direction and expanding assay services business.

    - Provide product line managers with directions for expanding and updating current consumables products and development of new product lines.

    - Identify and foster external collaborations to include key opinion leaders and corporate partnerships with companies in biotechnology, personalized medicine, the drug/pharmaceutical industry and diagnostics.

    - Identify and foster relationships with key opinion leaders in academia, non-profits, consortia, and government.

    - Coordinate mutually beneficial programs between the Company and collaborators.

    - Promote Company's reputation as a biomarker leader and enabler for the scientific community.

    -Cultivate a reputation as a thought leader and enabler for the scientific community.

    - Attend and present at conferences, host internal and external seminars/webinars.

    - Generate content to advertise Company's expertise, including presentations, web content, blogs, editorials, etc.

    - Understand and communicate a narrative around how the Company’s products and services can impact customer research and development activities.

    - Keep current on literature, webinars, conferences, and pharma/clinical business news.

    - Act as primary R&D interface with marketing and sales; stay current on scientific and competitor advancements.

    - Specific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirements.

    EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    - Advanced degree (PhD, MD, MD/PhD, Pharm. D.) with focus on cancer research and treatment.

    - Minimum of 14 years of experience in biotech, pharma, public health, or other life-sciences area.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    - Recognized leader in the field, technically competent with a solid publication record.

    - Comprehensive understanding of the pharma field and its current and future needs.

    - Demonstrated outstanding interpersonal communication skills as a core competency, including excellent presentation skills and the ability to create and foster new relationships.

    - Strong business acumen, negotiation and mediation skills, as well as a demonstrated attention to detail and a focus on achieving quality outcomes.

    - Attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to excellence and performance improvement and the drive to deliver quality and value-added results and outcomes.

    - A professional presence and strong interpersonal skills for interacting in a courteous, timely, and diplomatic manner with all levels of employees as well as external parties.

    - Thorough understanding of the principles of biomolecule detection assays, their development and their applicability in different research fields.

    - Superior competency in scientific fundamentals.

    - Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.

    - Ability to travel as needed.

    - Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    While performing the duties of this job, the individual is frequently required to sit and stand for long periods.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    - This position is performed in a traditional office environment, with potential for remote work.

    - Travel is required, approximately 25%.
