    Job Title: Chief Estimator

    Job Description:

    As the Chief Estimator in the construction industry, you will play a pivotal role in leading the estimating department and driving the successful procurement of projects through accurate cost estimation, strategic bidding, and competitive pricing strategies. Leveraging your expertise and technical skills, you will oversee the preparation and submission of comprehensive estimates for construction projects of varying size and complexity.

    Your key responsibilities will include:

    Leadership and Team Management: Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to the estimating team, including senior estimators, estimators, and support staff. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment, promoting teamwork, professional development, and continuous improvement in estimating processes and methodologies.

    Bid Strategy and Analysis: Develop and implement bid strategies and pricing models to effectively compete for construction projects in the marketplace. Analyze project specifications, drawings, and scope of work to identify project requirements, risks, and opportunities. Collaborate with project stakeholders, subcontractors, and suppliers to solicit competitive bids and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.

    Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Lead the preparation and review of accurate and detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services. Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to quantify project costs, prepare takeoffs, and generate cost breakdowns. Develop cost budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections to support project planning, scheduling, and financial management.

    Bid Proposal Development: Prepare and present bid proposals, prequalification packages, and tender submissions to clients, owners, and general contractors. Clearly communicate project pricing, value propositions, and competitive advantages to differentiate the company and win new business opportunities. Collaborate with sales, business development, and executive leadership to develop winning strategies and proposals.

    Risk Management and Mitigation: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks and uncertainties associated with project estimation and bidding processes. Conduct thorough risk analysis, including constructability reviews, site evaluations, and subcontractor evaluations. Develop contingency plans and risk mitigation strategies to minimize project risks and maximize profitability.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, quantity surveying, or related field; Master's degree or professional certifications preferred.

    Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction estimating, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role overseeing estimating functions.

    Proficiency in construction estimating software, such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, WinEst, or equivalent, with advanced knowledge of computerized estimating systems and databases.

    Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret technical documents, drawings, and specifications accurately.

    Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to build rapport, influence stakeholders, and negotiate favorable outcomes.

    Strategic thinking, business acumen, and financial literacy, with a focus on driving profitability, growth, and competitive advantage in the construction marketplace.
