  • Responsibilities

    Our client, a leading plant based food production company is seeking a Lead R&D Food Scientist.

    You will report to the Manager, R&D – Alternative Meats, and be working in the formulation and product development of Meat analogous while working closely with the machine learning, research, and product development team to find improvement on processes and projects and also will be responsible for coordinating team’s activities.

     

    :•Coordinate all activities of the R&D Scientific team inside the category stream.  

    •Ensure product superiority status across our competitors in the spaces where we operate

    •Be accountable on working side by side with the machine learning team and the research team on all product development on improvement projects

    •To design and develop new products within Business objectives.

    •Bring product development expertise through his / her own experience as well as from suppliers, to ensure successful industrialization and launches that meet the requirements of the project brief.

    •Design and carry out laboratory-scale and/or pilot experiments for both food prototyping and ingredient validation.

    •Provide feedback of the experiments and trials to the project teams and Al.

    •Propose improvements in production processes and products, based on experimental results at the laboratory and pilot scale.

    •Participate in scientific communication activities and the latest technologies in the Research area.

     

    Key Qualifications • Master’s Degree (PhD preferred), and 5 or more years of progressive R&D experience and at least 1 years leading teams in plant-based food products, including successful execution of plant-based food products (meat analogues) • or Bachelor’s degree in food engineering, food science, Engineering in Biotechnology or a similar discipline, with 8 or more years of progressive R&D experience and at least 4 years leading teams in plant-based food products including successful execution of plant-based food products (meat analogues) • Experience directing and developing teams while making sure employees have a great environment to work in • Possess experience in working in a consumer food company, product development and experimental design. • Excel in a startup environment and excited to create new procedures and processes from scratch, and has a strong entrepreneurial mindset. • Be a problem solver and take the initiative to get the job done, strong communicator. • Possess strong planning and execution skills, and the ability to articulate where and how you have used them. • Rigorous data driven/analytical capability and ability and presence to present data effectively to a leadership team. • Work well in teams and cross functional groups in a matrixed environment both regionally and globally. • Be agile, adaptable, and thrive in a dynamic and changing culture. • Possess strong computer skills including a high level of proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel. • Ability to travel at least 10-30% of the time
