    MANUFACTURING HEAT TREAT ENGINEER

    Summary/Purpose

    Deliver technological advances, process troubleshooting and project management to improve Roller Bearing manufacturing as it relates to equipment reliability, scrap reduction, production capacity, efficiency and cost for assigned department(s).

    Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

    • Support the heat treat department to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery and reduce Cost
    • Provide engineering support and/or project management for plant safety improvements
    • Troubleshoot equipment and machine breakdowns
    • Serve as plant expert in heat treating process audits and safety regulations
    • Organize and lead cross-functional meetings to support reliability and continuous manufacturing improvement projects
    • Provide project management and technical support for equipment installations, upgrades and rebuilds
    • Collaborate with intercompany and external resources to repair or upgrade equipment as it relates to assigned department(s)
    • Support facility projects or other manufacturing areas as assigned

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Required
    • Demonstrated project management and justification skills with ability to multitask
    • Experience in problem solving
    • Knowledge of machine design and mechanical systems
    • Experienced in 2D and 3D CAD (AutoCad, PTC Creo)
    • Experience working in teams and communicating effectively through writing, presentation, graphs and proposal reports.
    • Capacity to work independently
    • Strong computer skills including MS Office
    • Desirable
    • Demonstrated knowledge of heat treating processes and/or metallurgy
    • Experience with writing PLC programs and troubleshooting PLCs.
    • Ability to create electrical schematics and facility layouts in AutoCAD.
    • The above may be waived by the department Manager and the Human Resources Manager if the candidate is otherwise qualified.

    Education and Experience and Development:

    • Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical, Mechanical, Electrical or Controls Engineering.

    • 5+ years of Heat Treating processes experience with technical degree will be considered

    • Depending on selected candidate’s experience, job training will be provided to become fully functional in the position. Training may include:

    Accredited courses in: Heat Treatment of steels, Metallurgy, Metallography

    • PLC programming, Combustion System safety (including NFPA 86),

    Work Environment/Physical Demands:

    • The performance of this position requires direct exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection and slip resistant safety toe shoes.
    • Arc Flash PPE is required when opening equipment electrical panels for access to PLCs or for testing.
    • Work is performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, with substantial time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
    • Travel by automobile and plane is required less than 5% if time for training, meetings or as needed for special projects.

    $33.96 - $50.94 / HR
