    Job Description

JACOB KRUEGER STUDIO is a boutique screenwriting school headquartered in New York City. Our online and NYC based classes teach writers from throughout the world to transcend the formulas to develop more than just a marketable screenplay, but also find their voices as artists. And our ProTrack program offers writers life-long one-on-one mentorship with working professional filmmakers, at a tiny fraction of the cost of grad school.

OUR MISSION: We empower artists by disrupting the traditional film school model, allowing our writers to focus on developing themselves first as artists, and then shaping their unique voices into a marketable product. We have a small, passionate team and believe in empowering our staff in the same way we empower our writers. We have a self starting and collaborative culture, and despite our 15 years in business, we have held onto our startup mentality, with the benefits of a high level of responsibility and input for everyone on our team.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Full Stack Developer reports to the Owner and Creative Director and is responsible for redesign, architecture, implementation, maintenance and improvement and integration of our wordpress website, LMS, customer portal, Salesforce CMS, Billing and Accounting systems.

With a focus on building toward scaling and growth, the Wordpress Developer's focus will be a four stage process:

    1. Rebuilding our website and shopping cart in collaboration with our marketing team to improve conversions and SEO.

    2. Improving the LMS experience of our students by building a customer portal which integrates with a custom LMS or existing app that allows our students to access live and recorded classes instantly upon purchase, access homework and class replays, schedule meetings with our admissions department to determing next steps, submit pages for workshopping and communicate with each other.

    3. Easing the scheduling burden of our staff and allowing website purchase of our recurring mentorship program (which is currently run entirely through a custom installation of salesforce that is only accessible to staff) by building a scheduling solution that is accessible to both staff and students, and either integrates with our current Salesforce system or replaces it. The system should work across time zones, and allows students to find the right teacher online by filling out a questionaire with conditional logic, sign up for and schedule recurring mentorship sessions on a weekly, bi-weekly, every 4 weeks, or one off basis, resolve any conflicts in their or their teachers schedule, sign a contract, set up a payment plan and create an ongoing schedule of recurring sessions that appear both in their and their teacher's google calendar. Once purchase is made, students should be able to see their next 12 recurring mentorship sessions through the customer portal, submit pages, and reschedule sessions as needed within rules.

    4. Improvement or replacement of our current custom Salesforce and Accounting Seed installation which currently works not only as a CMS and opportunity pipeline for our Admissions team, but also automates recurring tasks for our staff, and handles all scheduling, payroll for teachers based on completed sessions, billing, page submissions, and accounting. Much of this is automated in our current system, however there are a myriad of bugs and programming issues, which either must be resolved within Salesforce, or replaced by a rebuild in wordpress or a custom solution.

This is a growth oriented position, perfect for a candidate who not only possesses strong programming skills but also big ideas, and also enjoys working in a creative environment where the culture is oriented toward "yes" and people come together to make great things happen.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop in Wordpress, and integrate with or replace our current backend systems including Salesforce and Accounting seed to create integrated customized solutions supporting the needs of our students, faculty and staff.

    • Build class and scheduling portal to allow easy purchase and access of live online classes and VOD, purchase, scheduling and rescheduling of recurring mentorship sessions, homework and page submissions by students.

    • Improve opportunity pipeline and integrate with website, mailchimp, chat and sales portal.

    • Integrate with slack, asana, gsuite and other key apps.

    • Integrate with Salesforce/Accounting Seed API and/or Quickbooks for automation of teacher payroll and building of reports in collaboration.

    • Develop user stories and necessary changes in architecture.

    • Handle on-going customization and adjustments to product features. Enhance workflows within the system environment and integration with other key operational systems.

    • Drive testing, validation and documentation of Salesforce configurations and development

    • Provide solutions that are highly scalable, extensible and easy to maintain.

    • Set best practices in integration and application development, deployment, testing (unit and systems) and iterative refinement

    • Identify opportunities to improve processes and productivity

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum 5 Years Wordpress Development Experience

    • Experience with building custom scheduling solutions, including Date/Time logic and scheduling of recurring sessions.

    • Thorough understanding of/and detailed experience with API integration between wordpress, salesforce and other systems.

    • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent preferred

    • Experience with SEO

    • Experience with UI development

    • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, comfortable working independently in a results-oriented environment

    • Ability to move a project forward, draw key insights, and plan next steps

    • Salesforce development experience preferred but not required.
