Job Summary
We're hiring a Janitorial Team Lead to run the nightly crew at one of our commercial accounts. This is a working lead role: you'll clean alongside a team of 2 to 6 people, and you'll also own the results for the whole building.
You set the pace, assign the areas, check the work before anyone clocks out, and keep the client happy. When a team member calls out, you cover the route. When something breaks or a supply runs low, you're the one who reports it before the client notices.
The ideal candidate has janitorial experience, has led people before (formally or informally), and takes personal ownership of how the building looks. If you'd rather be told what to do than decide what gets done, this isn't the job.
Responsibilities
Lead the crew
Assign areas and tasks at the start of each shift and confirm every zone is covered
Train new team members on our cleaning standards, chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures
Set the pace on the floor by working alongside the crew, not watching from the side
Confirm crew attendance, report callouts and no-shows to the Site Supervisor immediately, and cover open routes when the team is short
Hold the team to the standard and address issues on the spot; escalate repeat problems to management
Own the quality
Walk the building and inspect completed work before the crew leaves; correct anything that misses the standard
Complete the nightly inspection checklist and shift report
Track supply levels and submit orders before you run out
Report equipment failures, building damage, safety hazards, and needed repairs to management the same night
Do the work
Vacuum carpets, mop and scrub floors, clean and disinfect restrooms, dust and wipe surfaces, and empty trash
Clean glass and windows, shampoo carpets, replace light bulbs, restock restroom and paper supplies
Clean up spills and remove hazards promptly
Follow all chemical handling, PPE, and safety requirements and make sure your crew does too
Represent the company on site
Be the on-site point of contact for client requests and pass them to management
Keep a professional appearance and attitude in front of the client at all times
Secure the building at the end of the shift: lights, doors, alarm, and keys handled per client procedure
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
2+ years of commercial janitorial experience
1+ year leading or training others in any setting (crew lead, shift lead, foreman, military, or similar)
Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
Working knowledge of commercial cleaning chemicals, floor equipment, and safety procedures
Able to read and complete written inspection reports and communicate clearly with management and clients
Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
Able to pass a background check
Physically able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs throughout the shift
Dependable, detail-oriented, and accountable — you show up, and your building is right every night
