I am seeking one to two upperclassman or graduate students to help supervisor my home and my 12 and 14 year old after school. I am a single working mother who needs help ensuring an adult presence in the home when I am not there, getting my kids places by car, and household help so that I can focus my afterwork time on engaging with my children. While this is a "babysitting" job, my children are pretty self sufficient, and this job is more of a cross between mentor/ house keeper/ driver/ chef and personal assistant. Responsibilities include: - Drive kids to activities. May include carpool. (A car would be helpful but if you don't have one, you can use mine) - Be an adult presence in the home - Give kids healthy snack afterschool. - Keep the house picked up including light housekeeping like vacuuming, dusting, wiping counters in kitchen, mirrors, wiping cabinets - Grocery shop and prepare dinner (dinner 3 times per week) If you have ideas on meals or are willing to research recipes to cook and shop for, that would be very helpful. My 14 year old is a vegetarian. My 12 year old is not. - Do laundry, sometimes strip and make beds - Keep fresh vegetables and fruit clean, cut and ready for snacking. Make other healthy snacks upon request. - Run other errands such as dropping off packages - Do other odd things in the home (organizing for example) - sometimes answer homework questions - Set up appointments, do internet research I would prefer one person but could work with two people. General schedule is 2:30 to 6 or 6:30 pm Monday to Friday, 2 to 5 pm on Friday but there are times when I travel and may ask if you can stay later (not a requirement). I would prefer that you have your own car but if not, you can use my car to transport the children and take public transportation to get here. I am right near the Brookline Hills Greenline T stop and a short walk from Washington St and Harvard St bus lines.
