GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE
Dole Fresh Vegetables currently harvests multiple crops through our internal farming operations. There is a variety of harvesting equipment that needs to be cleaned to a certain standard to avoid cross contamination issues. The Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Harvest Sanitation Intern will collect data, evaluate processes, and make recommendations to support creation of a field sanitation program

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION
- Review Current Sanitation Program
- Partner with hired third party sanitation company to understand their current processes
- Build internal SSOPs and Master sanitation schedules for all inventoried equipment
- Develop frequencies for cleaning and sanitizing of all equipment
- Develop documentation to verify activities
- Implement a microbiological monitoring program to verify cleanliness of equipment
- Create and deliver a final presentation to the President and executive team of Dole Fresh Vegetables.

- Valid California driver’s license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear.
- Ability to maneuver around an array of equipment, bend, stoop, climb stairs, lift up to 25 pounds, identify and distinguish colors, and work in a cold environment.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
- Ability to walk in uneven ground
WORK HOUR REQUIREMENT
- 40-hour workweek, no overtime expected.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Travel to and from the Salinas Dole Ag Operations office to various field locations in the Salinas Valley in a Dole vehicle
- Periodic use of Dole vehicle; vehicle not permitted to be taken overnight
- Travel to different ranch locations that could be up to 2 hours away occasionally
Required Experience
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
Fall 2022 rising Junior or Senior obtaining a bachelor’s degree in microbiology, chemistry, food science, food safety, equipment engineering, hygienic design
