    JOB TITLE: Accounting Assistant

    DEPARTMENT: Business Office

    SALARY: 16.73 Hourly

    ANTICIPATED START DATE: 5/3/2021

     

    POSITION SUMMARY

    This position performs various accounting functions, including entering data into an accounting system, preparing & entering journal entries, reconciling accounting records, and performing other various accounting tasks as needed.  THIS POSITION IS TEMPORARY THROUGH DECEMBER 2021.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    REQUIRED: 

    • Associate’s degree
    • Experience and skills in databases processing journal entries

    PREFERRED:

    • Two years of accounting experience
    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Banner experience
    • Ability to work on-site and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment PPE while on-campus

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    _ (Critical)_ Balances General Ledger to daily cash deposits.

    (Critical) Records and maintains financial data.

    (Critical) Processes daily banking activity.

    (Critical) Prepares monthly and other recurring journal entries.

    (Critical) Reviews accounts payable invoices prior to issuance of payments.

    (Critical) Responds to employee, vendor, and student questions and refers as appropriate.

    (Critical) Processes and remits various tax related documents for the College and the Foundation.

    (Very Important) Processes daily check log.

    (Very Important) Assists in developing and maintaining Accounting policies and procedures.
