  • Responsibilities

    SUMMARY:

    The Deposit Services Representative I is responsible for determining and processing all new account applications received via Internet, fax and mail, processing deposits and payments received in the mail, auditing new account forms daily, processing VODs, reviewing returned statements and coding accounts as needed.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    •  Process all new account applications received through internet, fax and mail including from 3rd parties, and account changes received through Member Service Requests. Follow up on all pending applications.
    • Provide assistance to staff regarding documentation and identification requirements.
    • Provide assistance to branch staff, loan officers, and Member Services staff with the online application navigation and approval process.
    • Process New Account Funding Daily
    • Performs the daily audit of new account forms.
    • Barcode New Account and IRA Forms
    • Processes all Verification of Deposits including SSI verifications.
    • Reviews returned statements and codes accounts as needed.
    • Process deposits and payments received in the mail
    • Close negative checking accounts and prepare the charge off and recovery report for Accounting
    • Process returned checks from Payments department
    • Provide supplies as requested to Branches
    • Maintain and verify check orders through Deluxe and core system
    • Meet individual new account and developmental goals and cross functional duties as assigned
    • Provide information concerning NCUA share insurance coverage
    • Comply with policies and procedures and understand changes in regulatory requirements, with particular attention to the Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, and with robbery procedures.

    Required Skills

    • Must possess a basic understanding of credit report terminology and scoring.
    • Excellent Customer Service Skills.
    • Use of PC and other forms of technology used to gather and process member information.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Must possess a high degree of integrity and trust along with the ability to work independently.
    • Ability to deal with member reaction in adverse situations.

          

    Required Experience

    EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
    • Two years’ work experience in the credit union or banking field.
    • Minimum of one year Georgia’s Own experience.

      

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. All employees must be able to communicate face to face or through technology with or without reasonable accommodation.  Employee will be in an office environment (well-lighted, heated and air-conditioned) typically stationed at a desk or table.  Employee will be asked to sit and stand for various increments of time, and to lift/push up 10 lbs.  Clerical office duties on various forms of technology are required.   Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.
