Job Description

Jim Needham Plumbing is seeking a full time Corporate Controller. This position will work with all managers to oversee all financial aspects of the business. The primary job responsibilities will include managing accounting staff, month end close activities, budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis. 

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership qualities , the ability to manage and motivate employees , an exceptional understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles' (GAAP), the ability to organize and analyze high volume of data, and a desire to learn and grow with the company. 

Job duties:

1. Obtaining an understanding of the overall organization's financial goals, and providing solutions to facilitate the achievement of those goals. 

2. Performing month-end close activities and financial statement preparations for multiple entities in accordance with US GAAP; verifying and obtaining a detailed understanding of each account balance and financial metrics. 

3. Budget preparation, variance analysis, cost analysis,and reporting.

4. Motivating, mentoring, and managing the accounting staff; delegation of tasks, training on accounting principals and procedures, etc.

5. Interviewing and hiring personnel as needed. 

6. Ensuring proper segregation of duties and compliance with internal controls.

7. Implementing and documenting accounting processes and procedures.

8. Running and updating reports using Success Ware and Microsoft Excel.

9. Performing computations and analysis of numerical data.

10. Approving and recording journal entries.

11. Managing banking, cash flow, and approving weekly payments. 

12. Coordinating with external accounting firm for tax preparation of tax returns, and audit/review preparation. 

13. Maintaining and properly organizing financial records in a paperless environment. 

14. Other duties and tasks as assigned by the CEO.

 Education and Experience

10 plus years of US GAAP experience, 5 plus years of managerial experience  ( preferred) , Bachelor's degree in accounting & MBA (preferred) CPA (a plus but not required).
