The Job Developer is responsible for building and maintaining employer relationships to generate job leads and employment opportunities for program participants. The role focuses on identifying workforce trends, preparing clients for placement, and aligning employer needs with participant skills. The Job Developer works closely with Career Advisor and Employers to ensure participants are job-ready and placed into meaningful employment.
Key Responsibilities:
Employer Engagement & Business Development
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with local employers, industry associations, and business partners.
- Conduct employer outreach through cold calls, site visits, job fairs, and networking events.
- Secure job orders and internship, apprenticeship, or on-the-job training (OJT) opportunities.
- Conduct labor market research to identify high-growth industries and occupations.
Job Matching & Placement
- Assess participant skills, qualifications, and interests to determine job placement potential.
- Match participants to job openings that align with their experience, training, and career goals.
- Coordinate interview schedules, follow-ups, and placement documentation.
- Track participant employment outcomes and retention milestones.
Participant Support
- Prepare clients for job interviews by conducting mock interviews and resume reviews.
- Deliver job readiness workshops in collaboration with career services teams.
- Provide post-placement support to ensure job retention and advancement.
- Monitor participant progress and communicate with Case Managers and Coaches regarding updates.
Reporting & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and timely records in case management and workforce systems (e.g., Employ Florida).
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly performance reports on job placements, employer contacts, and outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with funding requirements, performance benchmarks, and documentation standards.
Qualifications:
Education:
- GED or High School Diploma or higher education.
Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in job development, sales, workforce development, recruiting, or a related field.
- Proven track record of meeting placement targets and developing employer partnerships.
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Sales-minded with the ability to engage employers and advocate for clients.
- Knowledge of workforce trends, labor market information, and employment practices.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and underrepresented communities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and workforce database systems.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor Degree from an accredited university or college in a relevant field of study, or
- Associate Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study, and two (2) years of work experience in the public or private sector, preferably in workforce development, or
- High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited educational institution with four (4) years of work experience in the public or private sector, preferably in workforce development.
