Pay rate for Fertilizer Technicians: $18.00 - $25.00 hourly, depending on your experience.
The typical schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to about 5:00 PM, but days and hours vary based on projects and the seasonality of the business. We do not do winter lay-offs, but your schedule and total number of hours will change depending on weather and customer needs.

What your day will look like
During the regular season, our hours are typically 7am to 5pm
You will be driving a company truck during work time, so you must have a valid driver’s license
You will be working outside in varying weather conditions
At the end of the workday, you’ll load the equipment and materials that you’ll need to complete your work for the next day
You will measure, mix and apply fertilizers to residential and commercial lawns
You will treat weeds and perform applications based on provided program schedule
You will be operating machinery for multiple types of applications
You will perform lawn analysis collection for third party testing
You will identify and diagnose lawn problems and make recommendations for correction
You will fill out your time tracking accurately for each location you’re working via iPad using our software
Each evening, you’ll perform basic cleaning & maintenance on your tools and stock up on supplies for the next morning
When you see a customer onsite, you will check in with them to ensure they’re satisfied and answer their questions
You’ll ensure customer satisfaction through professional workmanship & communication
Experience
We’re flexible on the number of years of experience for this role! We favor talent and interest. Even if you did not finish high school, please apply anyway: there’s a good chance you’re more wonderful than you think you are. The only must-have requirements to be a Fertilizer Technician are:
You are 18 years of age or older.
You must have a valid Driver’s License.
Must be able and willing to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
A positive attitude and a desire to work outside.
Nice-to-haves: If you have the certifications or skills below, that’s a huge plus!
Certified by the Indiana State Chemist as a Registered Fertilizer Technician with Core Test
Hold certification of a 3B category for Turf Management
Experience managing or supervising others on the job
