Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a current and comprehensive understanding of the loan programs offered by the company
• Underwrite and perform credit analysis on loan collateral across all major property types
• Track issuer and industry trends as well as macroeconomic performance drivers which could impact the underwriting of commercial property
• Create and edit financial models that allow for the valuation of commercial real estate assets and sizing of real estate loans
• Provide the initial loan sizing analysis of new loan requests in an excel template ensuring that the following items are addressed and summarized for review by the Chief Credit Officer and Plum originators: Transaction background, borrower need, detailed sources and uses, borrower experience, and financial strength outlined in detail, property summary, market & location overview, detailed underwritten net cash flow analysis, and estimated valuation with a review of comparable assets using CoStar or a similar tool
• Help prepare investment committee presentations
• Interact with third party consultants including special servicers, brokers and sales agents, and construction consultants
• Conduct property site inspections and market research
• Assist as needed with loan closings and funding process in coordination with appropriate staff
• Maintain loan files in an organized fashion with an audit trail
• Continuously provide constructive feedback to identify improvements to processes where possible
• Continuously seek independent training and continuously improve market individual market knowledge and understanding of the underwriting and origination processes

QUALIFICATIONS

• 4-Year bachelor's Degree in major course work with a preference in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, or Economics
• Minimum requirement of 3 years in underwriting commercial real estate loans
• Demonstrated background in operating in a high-paced and dynamic environment
• Ability to read and interpret financial information including operating statements for a variety of property types
• Ability to recognize strengths/weaknesses in loans
• Highly organized, especially with tasks and priorities.
• Decision making: Ability to objectively analyze situations and draw accurate conclusions based on logic and facts
• Performance management: Ability to work with employees to establish and achieve clear, measurable performance goals linked to organizational goals
• Working collaboratively: Ability to seek input from others, facilitate group problem-solving, cooperate and work effectively with others to achieve goals
