Sovereign Credit Analyst VP (Hybrid)
Job Description
Sovereign Credit Management (SCM) is looking for a sovereign credit analyst to join their team. SCM is responsible for assessing country risks and sovereign creditworthiness for Citigroup. They work closely with different teams within Citigroup to ensure that the views on country/sovereign risk are accurately reflected in the management of the firm's international franchises and sovereign exposures. Responsibilities: - Develop risk assessments and propose risk settings for a portfolio of countries/counterparts - Propose Watchlist designations for countries and establish triggers for action - Provide internal risk ratings for sovereign, cross-border, and central bank exposures - Classify governments and recommend triggers for action - Review and guide sovereign/public sector analysis prepared by in-business risk teams - Conduct research and analysis to develop views on global macro conditions and sovereign credit assessments - Support the development and maintenance of relevant models used by the Sovereign Analytics team - Develop frameworks and early-warning indicators for anticipating country crises - Collaborate with stakeholders across the firm - Participate in efforts to improve sovereign credit rating models - Foster connections with market participants and policymakers - Adhere to controls and governance around SCM's processes - Disseminate SCM's views to relevant parts of the firm, particularly regional and country management - Train and develop less experienced sovereign analysts - Represent Citi on regulatory matters and oversee implementation of remediation Qualifications: - At least 4+ years of experience as a sovereign credit analyst/macroeconomist at top-tier global financial institutions, central banks, rating agencies, or the IMF/World Bank - Experience working with finance ministries and central banks - Experience developing frameworks and quantitative models for sovereign credit analysis - Excellent communication skills, both oral and written - Strong visual presentation skills - Highly motivated, team-oriented, and organized - Ability to assess complex issues and drive resolutions with senior stakeholders - Ability to influence and lead people across cultures - Comfort working in complex, highly-matrixed organizations Education: - Master's degree (or equivalent) in macroeconomics, international finance, or related disciplines from a top-tier institution This job is full-time and the primary location is in Washington, District Of Columbia.
