    Job Description

    Job Summary:
    We are hiring for a position that aims to empower and support every individual to achieve their dreams, contribute to the community, and continue learning throughout their lives. The role involves overseeing custodial services and ensuring that all employees receive proper training and supervision. The Assistant Coordinator will also be responsible for maintaining accountability and compliance with custodial responsibilities. Additionally, they will collaborate with facilities operations and industry experts to optimize efficiency and protect our equipment assets. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Design and conduct training programs for new custodial hires.
    • Assess and identify equipment needs and propose necessary purchases for custodial and maintenance.
    • Inform new hires about workplace safety, system policies, and procedures in collaboration with HR and facilities operations team.
    • Communicate and demonstrate housekeeping standards and methods to building operations supervisors and engineers.
    • Establish sustainable housekeeping standards in coordination with facilities operations management team and stakeholders.
    • Set goals, collect data, and assess the performance of custodians in collaboration with the facilities operations management team.
    • Regularly inspect the quality of custodial work to ensure it meets established standards.
    • Conduct research and collaborate with the custodial/maintenance team and industry experts to develop efficient housekeeping methods.
    • Perform routine performance evaluations for custodial staff and building engineers.
    • Coordinate summer cleaning programs and supervise summer casual custodial staff.
    • Organize annual district-wide custodial staff trainings.
    • Map facilities for maintenance and upkeep purposes.
    • Maintain preventive maintenance (PM) standards at all sites using PM software.
    • Regularly communicate preventive maintenance expectations and provide training on prescribed procedures to custodial staff.
    • Direct the activities of special services teams such as paint crew, carpet installation crew, full-time floaters, part-time floaters, and summer casual staff.
    • Assist in maintaining painting and carpet replacement schedule for department director and assistant director.
    • Post job openings, screen applicants, conduct interviews, and hire custodial team members.
    • Organize regular meetings with building engineers to address common areas of interest, staff development, means and methods, and inter-department collaboration.
    • Perform other assigned duties of a similar nature.

    Qualifications:

    • Education: High school diploma or GED.
    • Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
      • Ability to plan, design, and deliver effective training programs.
      • Strong written and oral communication skills.
      • Supervisory, analytical, and assessment skills.
      • Collaborative problem-solving abilities.
    • Work Experience: Minimum eight years of experience in housekeeping and facilities equipment management.
    • Supervisory Experience: Minimum of five years of management experience or a combination of college degree and relevant experience.
    • Physical Requirements:
      • Must be able to perform all physical activities required of a custodian.
      • Capable of working in confined spaces and at heights.
    • License/Certification:
      • Required licenses/certifications for hiring: First Class Boilers, with a chief boilers license within three years. CPO certification within one year. EPA underground tank certification preferred within one year.
    • Salary: Please refer to the salary grids in the Management Personnel I-M agreement.
    • Work schedule: 225 work year.
    • Job type or FTE: Full-time.
    • Bargaining unit: Management Personnel I-M.
    • Desired start date: August 4, 2023.
