    About the team:

    The Platform Engineering team is dedicated to evolving both our products and our modes of customer engagement for the dynamic financial services landscape. Our platform vision is enabling a connected FIS. The full breadth of our offering is unlocked for Institutions, Merchants, eCommerce, FinTech's and Innovators - powered by platform capabilities built on the latest technologies and design patterns. The team works closely with business, product, and operation teams to accelerate our platform journey. We are looking for hands-on leaders that can drive innovation while implementing industry-leading platform capabilities.

    About the role:

    The API Designer will be responsible for designing and developing the Experience API contracts. The API Designer will work with product management and product engineering teams to ensure that contracts are simple, consistent, and easy to use.

    What you will be doing:

    This role is highly challenging, yet satisfying, and provides a fantastic opportunity to lead the platform journey at FIS:

    • Use functional and non-functional product requirements to develop industry-leading API contracts for several business domains.
    • Perform discovery & requirements gathering and produce documentation.
    • Perform data modeling including design and development of Experience API contracts in Swagger Hub.
    • Validate contracts using industry-leading tools like Postman.
    • Design and Develop Data Model Documentation to support completion of Experience APIs.
    • Work with the architecture team to ensure that the API middleware offers comprehensive capabilities.
    • Design and develop a publishing process to keep all stakeholders involved.
    • Software engineering support for publishing processes of API accelerator platform to FIS customers.
    • Software engineering support for promoting APIs from Dev to Staging, UAT & Production environments.
    • Provision of documentation to support publishing of APIs to FIS customers.
    • Identifies and sizes opportunities to advance the Platform roadmap, including the assessment of new technologies and technical debt.

    What you will need:

    • Curiosity and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to navigate through ambiguity and complexities.
    • 10 years of experience developing services such as APIs/Web Services with data formats such as JSON and XML.
    • Experience managing versioned services.
    • Significant knowledge of software development and delivery pipelines, software testing, databases, and technical documentation.
    • Experience with Gateway tools like WS02, Apigee, Azure API Gateway, and AWS API Gateway.
    • Experience with tools like Parasoft, Swagger Hub, and Postman.
    • Experience with agile and scrum methodologies and DevOps environments with a high degree of automation of CI/CD pipelines, build promotions, and code quality testing.
    • Fluency in most IT business architecture areas including business process design, domain architecture, and governance.
    • Experience working in an Agile Release Train and knowledge of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF.
    • Strong knowledge of Event Driven Architecture, Microservices Architecture, REST APIs, Security, Testing, and deployments in high throughput environments.
    • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to present to all levels of the organization.

    Educational requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience. Post-graduate education preferred.

    Added bonus if you have:

    • Experience in financial services and fast-paced innovation team highly desirable.
    • Knowledge of FIS' products and services.
    • Knowledge of the financial services industry or FinTech.
    • Knowledge and experience with Banking or Card as-a-Service platforms.
