About the Job: Boiler & Machinery Consultant Engineer
FM Global is currently seeking a boiler & machinery consultant engineer who has technical industry experience. As a consultant, your role will involve conducting risk assessments and consulting clients on mechanical and electrical risks. Your expertise will help clients prevent potential disasters and protect their properties and businesses. Responsibilities:
- Evaluate equipment integrity and reliability, identify hazards and deficiencies, and provide risk improvement solutions
- Use industry standards and best practices to offer risk guidance
- Prepare engineering reports and loss expectancies to support risk improvement
- Collaborate with various departments to provide Boiler & Machinery recommendations
- Work independently from a home office with minimal supervision
- Travel to client sites to evaluate operations and systems and identify risks and hazards (30%-40% overnight travel expected)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience (experience in chemical, power generation, pulp & paper, molten, or mining industries preferred)
- Resident or willing to relocate to the San Francisco or Seattle areas
- Ability to enter confined spaces
- Eagerness to learn across a broad range of industries and hazards
- Good analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and stay focused in a home office environment
- Results-driven and self-motivated
- Strong technical aptitude and knowledge of engineering principles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Proficiency in MS Office products
- Physically able to lift 25 pounds, climb ladders, and work at heights
- Authorization to work in the US
- Valid driver’s license
The hiring range for this position is $76,000 to $144,800, and the final salary offer will be based on individual education, skills, and experience.
