    Responsibilities:

    • Location: Saint Marys Campus, Surgical Services Weekend Team (expectation to float to all surgical specialties)
    • Assist in managing the care of patients during surgical procedures as a circulating nurse
    • Observe for breaches in surgical asepsis and coordinate the needs of the surgical team
    • Not scrubbed in the case, but rather manage the care and environment during surgery
    • Act as a patient advocate

    As a registered nurse (RN) at Mayo Clinic, you will coordinate nursing care, provide direct patient care, educate patients and their families, and ensure smooth transitions of care. You will work across practice settings to meet the needs of the patient and family. Your role will be guided by the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model and the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice. Leadership opportunities, such as preceptor roles and participation in quality improvement efforts, are available. Excellent communication skills, mentoring abilities, and critical thinking skills are desirable.

    This role is eligible for TN sponsorship and applicants with F1 status eligible for post-completion OPT are welcome to apply. However, participation in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program is not available. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.

    Qualifications:

    • Graduate of a recognized baccalaureate nursing program
    • For those graduated from a non-accredited nursing program, at least one year of RN experience at Mayo Clinic or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is required
    • Completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within five years from the date of RN start (for entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a start date of April 1, 2020, and after)
    • Preferred one year of RN experience within the last five years (all entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a start date prior to April 1, 2020)
    • Preferred candidates with operating room or sterile processing experience
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to work in a team environment

    Candidates should possess a current RN license, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, and any additional specialty certifications/training required for the work area. Flexible work hours, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call availability, may be required.

    • Competitive compensation: $37.20 - $55.84 per hour

    • Flexible 12-hour shifts with variation
    • Weekend schedule: Every third weekend
