** Job Description:**
The Patient Account Representative (PAR) is responsible for performing specific billing processes, account resolution, adjustments, and scanning as required. They work with other departments to meet facility goals and objectives. The PAR is responsible for finding solutions to payment problems and keeping management updated on issues with specific payers.
The PAR has extensive knowledge of billing, accounts receivable follow-up, timely filing guidelines, and reviewing remittance advices and electronic billing reports. They perform all assigned job duties related to these tasks.
** Responsibilities:**
Contact third-party payers and guarantors to resolve account balances
Handle correspondence within 24 hours and provide detailed notes in the client's system
Work on denials and take necessary actions for account resolution
Submit appeals for non-clinical denials
Monitor denials for trends and report findings to supervisor
Bill or re-bill claims as necessary
Ensure compliance with billing rules, regulations, and HIPAA
Complete assigned special projects within specified timeframes
Attend training sessions and seminars
Document each account worked in the client's system
Make necessary corrections in the client's system
Update patient accounts with corrected information
Handle customer calls in a professional and courteous manner
** Requirements:**
High School Diploma or equivalent
1-year experience in office, customer service, or healthcare field preferred
PC skills in a Windows environment
Knowledge of Word and Excel
Ability to work independently and follow through on projects
