    Job Opportunity: Hospital Bed Board Coordinator (Part Time)

    What You Will Do:

    The Hospital Bed Board Coordinator (Part Time) plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient patient flow and bed availability throughout the hospital. In this position, you will monitor admissions, transfers, and discharges in real time, working closely with various departments to facilitate smooth patient movement. Please note that this is a Part Time position, which includes working weekends, holidays, and possibly 2 shifts during the week.

    • Monitor the status of patients admitted from the Emergency Department to the inpatient/observation setting.
    • Communicate with ER staff, ED care managers, house supervisors, environmental services, and inpatient charge nurses regarding patient status and bed availability.
    • Initiate clear and ongoing communication about bed availability and patient flow.
    • Review medical admit orders for accuracy and oversee bed availability for admits, transfers, and discharges.
    • Conduct rounds with inpatient charge nurses to establish bed status.
    • Verify insurance information for accurate billing purposes.
    • Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with physicians, department directors, and staff members to meet patient and facility needs.
    • Operate the hospital's electronic bed board efficiently.
    • Complete daily hospital census reconciliation.
    • Notify relevant staff about bed delays and anticipate potential barriers to patient movement.
    • Maintain a calm and professional demeanor in all interactions.
    • Adhere to organizational policies and maintain patient confidentiality.
    • Participate in performance improvement and professional development opportunities.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by manager and/or director of care management.

    What You Will Need:

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Previous experience in an acute care setting, related healthcare setting, or strong customer service experience.
    • Experience in patient admittance, bed board, or administrative work.

    What Would Be Nice To Have:

    • A team player with strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Confidence in communicating with other healthcare organizations and personnel.
    • Sound judgment, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
    • Leadership abilities and resourcefulness.

    The annual salary range for this position is $37,300.00-$55,900.00. Compensation decisions will be based on various factors including skill sets, experience, clearances, and organizational needs.
