Responsibilities As a Laboratory Processing Assistant at Mayo Clinic, you will be part of a diverse and dynamic team responsible for various structured tasks. These tasks include processing specimens before analysis, operating laboratory and office equipment, entering information into computer systems, answering phone calls for laboratory testing information, resolving specimen-related issues, preparing complex reagents, managing inventory, providing training to others, and promoting an inclusive work environment that respects individuals with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Location: Specimen Operations is located in the Superior Drive Support Center, with immediate parking provided. Note: Individuals hired for this position must complete two years in the role before being eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic. Qualifications To be considered for this position, you must meet one of the following criteria: - Associate degree - High school diploma/GED and two years of work experience, including clinical laboratory or relevant experience Additional Qualifications: - Please include your CV/Resume and a cover letter with your application - DLMP employees who have been in their current lab/position for less than two years must attach an early release approval from their supervisor - Internal applicants must attach their three most recent performance appraisals - Preferred qualification: Associate's degree in a health or science field - Preferred qualification: Lab assistant experience - Ability to pay attention to details and adhere to strict safety requirements for handling chemicals, reagents, and infectious agents - Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment - Accurate reading of specimen labels and working with numbers to prevent mislabeling - Previous experience or knowledge of computers, keyboarding, telephone operations, and other office equipment - Good human relations skills and effective oral and written communication - Ability to work independently and in a team environment - Flexibility to accommodate scheduling adjustments, off-shifts, holidays, and weekend work assignments Exemption Status: Nonexempt Compensation Detail: Required education, experience, tenure, and internal equity will be considered when job offers are extended.
