Responsibilities The Pain Medicine Registered Nurse (RN) provides care to adult patients experiencing different types of pain. This includes patient education, coordination of care for implanted pain management devices, and managing telephone triage in a busy medical specialty practice. We are looking for individuals who are comfortable with ambiguity and excited about expanding and defining the role of the registered nurse in this dynamic practice. As an RN, you will also coordinate nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. You will practice within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which encompasses all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. Leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to change are essential in this role. Some employees may be required to drive their personal vehicles as part of their responsibilities. This role is open to TN sponsorship. Individuals with F1 status eligible for post-completion OPT are welcome to apply. Unfortunately, this role is not eligible for the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or an equivalent certification. Qualifications - Must be a student, graduate, or in the candidacy process of an accredited associate or diploma nursing program recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), or National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). If the nursing program is not accredited, at least one year of RN experience in a relevant care setting is required. - All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with an RN start date of April 1, 2020, and after must provide documented evidence of program completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date. - All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with an RN start date prior to April 1, 2020, must provide documented evidence of program completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program as per the degree requirement program in place at the time of hire. Additional Qualifications: - BSN preferred. - Two or more years of direct patient care experience and ambulatory experience is helpful. - Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) required. - Experience working in a team environment required. - Comfort with technology and computer skills required. - Adaptability to change and willingness to be flexible. - Leadership skills, excellent critical thinking skills, and interpersonal skills. - Internal applicants should submit their three most recent performance appraisals. Requirements prior to start date: - Current RN license as required by the state. - Basic Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers (BCLS) certificate of course completion required. Should not expire within three months after the start date. We accept certificates of course completion from American Heart Association, Red Cross, and Military Training Network. Additional specialty certification/training may be required based on the work area.
