About the Internship Program We are offering a paid internship opportunity for nursing students at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. This program allows you to gain valuable experience and clinical skills by rotating through various clinic and hospital departments. You will have the chance to work in Eau Claire, Osseo, Menomonie, and/or Barron. The program runs for 11 weeks, starting on May 28th, 2024, and ending on August 9th, 2024. Responsibilities As a Student Nurse Intern, you will provide direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Your role includes communicating with the nurse about changes in patient condition, performing general nursing duties, and responding quickly to changes or treatment results. Your practice will align with the American Nurses Association's Scope and Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. Qualifications To be considered for this internship program, you must be on track to graduate from a baccalaureate nursing program (BSN) or associate nursing program (ADN) by December 2024 or May 2025. Incomplete applications will be disqualified, so please make sure to include the following documents: - Cover Letter and Resume highlighting your education, employment, volunteer activities, and professional associations/organizations. - Academic transcripts (unofficial copies are acceptable). - Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. - Answers to two questions regarding your goals and understanding of nursing professionalism. Additional qualifications include clinical experience and coursework in nursing fundamentals, pharmacology, and basic nursing skills. Basic computer skills, effective English communication, and problem-solving abilities are also important. Compensation and Benefits This position offers a predetermined rate of $17.75 per hour. While it is not eligible for benefits, it provides valuable experience and learning opportunities to develop your nursing career. Schedule and Location As a Student Nurse Intern, you will participate in the 11-week program on a full-time basis. Rotations are scheduled Monday through Friday, including day and/or evening shifts. No weekends or holidays are required for this position. Opportunities for shadowing and professional development are available throughout the program. The internship is located at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
