Responsibilities - The Patient Care Specialist (PCS) works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and accepts tasks from the care team members to provide direct and indirect patient care. - In the direct care role, you will provide patient care, document patient information, and communicate with patients, families, and the care team. - In the indirect care role, you will assist in maintaining the care environment and perform clerical duties. - The PCS must be organized, demonstrate teamwork skills, have a commitment to continuous learning, and strive for quality and excellence. - Basic computer skills and the ability to use various technological devices are required. - This role involves working with patients of all ages and various medical conditions. Qualifications - You must be at least 18 years old and have effective communication skills in English. - Basic computer skills and experience with technological devices are necessary. - You should be available to work irregular hours, including days, evenings, holidays, and weekends. - Self-motivation and the ability to work with diverse populations are required. - High school graduation or GED equivalency is preferred. - Knowledge of computers and software applications is necessary. - The ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations is essential. - Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with patients, employees, and the public is important. - Being well-organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and efficient is crucial. - Preferred qualifications include experience as a PCS, HUC, MA, NS, or Ward Clerk, and familiarity with medical terminology. - Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required. Training will be provided if necessary.
