Responsibilities: - Location: Mary Brigh 6D (MB6D), Cardiovascular Surgery/Transplant/Mechanical Circulatory Support Device (Progressive Care) - Patient Care Type: Specialized care for adult cardiac surgical patients, cardiothoracic transplant patients, and mechanical circulatory support device patients - Bed #: 14 Job Description: - The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) provides organizational, receptionist, and clerical support to patient care units and the healthcare team. - Duties include monitoring and ordering supplies, answering patient call lights, assisting with management of electronic health records, and effective communication with patients, visitors, and staff. - The HUC serves as a resource for the healthcare team, is familiar with Mayo Clinic resources, and actively participates in continuous improvement activities. - The HUC anticipates and responds to team requests and patient needs. Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent required. - Basic computer knowledge and strong keyboarding skills required. - Successful completion of HUC program or certification preferred. - Experience in a medical environment preferred. - Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred. - Proficiency in computer skills and working with electronic health record systems preferred. - Outstanding customer service, interpersonal, and organizational skills required. - Ability to adapt in unpredictable situations within the patient care setting. - Availability to work flexible hours including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Exemption Status: Nonexempt Compensation: - $20.64 - $29.12 per hour Benefits Eligible: Yes Schedule: - Full-time - 64 hours per pay period - Sunday - Saturday; Day/Evening, 8 & 12-hour shifts - Every third weekend (Weekend B) International Assignment: No Site Description: - Mayo Clinic has campuses in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona; Jacksonville, Florida; and Rochester, Minnesota, as well as other locations. - Each Mayo Clinic location offers a unique environment where employees thrive in both work and personal lives.
