Responsibilities: - Participate in the New Graduate Neurology/Neurosurgery General Care to ICU Bridge Program. - Start on a Neurology or Neurosurgery General Care unit for 12 months before transitioning to the Neurosciences ICU. - Gain skills in stroke scale certification, specialty patient care, ECG rhythm interpretation, critical care nursing, and ICU observation. - Achieve mastery of general care before transitioning to the neurology/neurosurgery specialty population. For new graduate nurses: - Automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program. - Extensive orientation program for all nurses, regardless of experience. The registered nurse (RN) role includes: - Coordination of nursing care, direct patient care, and patient/family education. - Support of professional nursing practice and quality improvement efforts. - Possibility of driving personal vehicle as part of the role. Qualifications: - Student or graduate of an accredited nursing program. - Exception for MCHS sites prior to law changes requiring accreditation. - Entry-level associate degree RNs must complete a baccalaureate degree in nursing program within five years. - One year of RN or LPN experience at Mayo Clinic preferred. - Excellent communication skills, team player, and adaptable. - Computer skills required, experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. - Current RN license and Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required before start.
