What You Will Do :
As an Admissions Coordinator, your role is to gather and verify demographic information, insurance benefits, and eligibility. You will assign accurate medical record and account numbers to ensure precise billing and clinical information. This position is based at UAB Medical West with a schedule of 2:30pm - 11:00pm x 3 days a week and 6:00am-6:30pm every other weekend (note: schedule may change based on patient needs). Responsibilities include: - Ensuring accurate data entry - Providing excellent customer service - Obtaining complete and accurate demographic and financial information from various sources - Collecting required signatures on legal consents and insurance forms - Completing necessary pre-certification, credit referral, or deposit collection processes - Reviewing physician's orders and ensuring all required information is listed - Maintaining knowledge of insurance rules and regulations - Operating multiple computer systems - Maintaining positive customer service and escalating issues when necessary - Answering telephone calls and providing assistance to callers - Completing all shift duties in a timely and accurate manner - Complying with safety regulations and procedures
What You Will Need :
Requirements: - High School Diploma or equivalent - 1 year of experience in a hospital setting or medical office utilizing insurance websites
What Would Be Nice To Have :
Preferred qualifications: - Typing speed of a minimum of 35 words per minute - Familiarity with medical terminology
