Responsibilities - This position is open to experienced nurses and new grad nurses. - Location: Mary Brigh 5CF (MB5CF), Cardiovascular Surgery (Progressive Care) - Patient Care Type: A surgical cardiovascular progressive unit serving adult and pediatric patients. Our nursing staff is responsible for ECG monitoring, as well as additional monitoring services such as SpO2 monitoring, non-invasive blood pressure, and arrhythmia detection. - Bed #: 37 - Nursing Team Roles: Pulmonary care, promoting independence in activities of daily living, emotional support, patient education, and discharge planning. Our patient population includes those undergoing coronary bypass grafts, valve repair/replacements, left ventricular assist devices, and congenital anomaly repairs. We also provide care to medical-surgical patients needing ECG monitoring. - For new grad nurses: All newly graduated Registered Nurses hired into a scheduled FTE Registered Nurse position on our Rochester campus are automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program. No separate application is required. All nurses new to Mayo Clinic, regardless of experience, receive an extensive orientation program. Qualifications - Student or graduate of an accredited nursing program recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), or National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). If the nursing program was not accredited, at least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting is required. - Entry-level associate degree registered nurses with an RN start date after April 1, 2020, must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited program within five years from the RN start date. - Entry-level associate degree registered nurses with an RN start date prior to April 1, 2020, must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited program as per the degree requirement program in place at the time of hire. - Additional Qualifications: One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of current LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is preferred. Excellent communication skills, experience working in a team environment, computer skills, flexibility in working hours, adaptability, leadership skills, and critical thinking skills are required. License or Certification - Must obtain prior to start date: Current RN license by applicable state requirements. - Basic Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers (BCLS) certificate of course completion required and must not expire within 3 months after the start date. Acceptable certificate providers include American Heart Association, Red Cross, and Military Training Network. - Additional specialty certification/training may be required. Exemption Status Nonexempt Compensation Detail $37.20 - $55.84/hour Benefits Eligible Yes Schedule Full Time Hours/Pay Period 40-72 Schedule Details Variable schedule including days, evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call.
