What You Will Do:
The Admissions Coordinator is responsible for collecting and verifying personal and insurance information for accurate billing and clinical records. This position performs various job-related duties as assigned.
Location: UAB Lab Kirklin Clinic
Working Hours: 9:30 am - 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday (No Holidays)
- Ensure accuracy of data elements
- Provide excellent customer service
- Gather complete and accurate demographic and financial information from patients, physicians, and departments
- Obtain necessary signatures on legal consents and insurance forms
- Perform pre-certification, credit referral, or deposit collection
- Enter data into computer systems and update patient files
- Communicate insurance coverage issues to patients, family members, physicians, and supervisors
- Review physicians' orders for completion and compliance with Medicare regulations
- Maintain knowledge of insurance rules and regulations
- Provide assistance to callers and follow established scripts
- Complete shift duties accurately and within specified timeframes
- Comply with safety regulations and procedures
What You Will Need:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of experience in a hospital setting or medical office working with insurance websites
What Would Be Nice To Have:
- Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute
- Familiarity with medical terminology
