    We are currently looking for a Biologist specializing in Malaria Research to provide support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Vaccine Research Center (VRC). This is a full-time position based in Bethesda, MD.

    What You Will Do:

    • Manage the execution of research on mosquitoes and malaria in a controlled laboratory environment.
    • Perform various laboratory procedures and techniques including Plasmodium sporozoite dissection, molecular cloning, PCR, cell culture, flow cytometry, and more.
    • Maintain and expand mosquito cultures according to established protocols.
    • Monitor the infection status of mosquitoes and conduct experiments related to malaria challenges.
    • Evaluate the efficacy of malaria vaccines and monoclonal antibodies in animal models.
    • Design and develop new protocols and procedures for malaria experiments.
    • Collect, analyze, interpret, and report data from malaria experiments.
    • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and perform routine maintenance of equipment.

    What You Will Need:

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
    • Minimum of four (4) years of related work experience.
    • Experience with relevant laboratory practices and procedures.
    • Proficiency in in vivo technical procedures in mice.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
    • Flexibility to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

    What Would Be Nice To Have:

    • Preferred experience in preclinical malaria mouse challenge models, mosquito dissection, in vivo imaging, flow cytometry, microscopy, protein purification, ELISA, and more.
