[Job Description]: - The Stanford Center for Personalized Medicine's Sequencing Center is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Life Science Research Professional 2 (LSRP2) with expertise in Genomics. - This role involves testing, developing, and validating new sequencing technologies and performing a variety of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) assays for a large multi-omics research project. - The successful candidate must have a track record of innovative and collaborative research in genomics, demonstrated through years of experience and peer-reviewed publications. - They should have expertise in NGS technologies such as whole genome sequencing, RNA-Seq, single cell RNA-seq, 10X Genomics, and operating different sequencer platforms like Illumina, PacBio, or Nanopore. - The LSRP2 will play a critical role in experimental design and making recommendations for technical improvements to NGS projects. - They will also facilitate collaborations with research labs and biotechnology companies and contribute to the testing and validation of cutting-edge sequencing technologies. [Duties]: - Independently conduct a portion of the research project(s) and make recommendations on experimental design and research direction. - Conduct complex lab experiments and gather data for a major research project. - Analyze results, make modifications to procedures and protocols, and develop new research protocols where necessary. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in ongoing research and development of new protocols. - Contribute to the preparation of papers for publication and present ongoing work at conferences. - Oversee supply and equipment budget, ensure lab compliance with regulations, and supervise staff or students as needed. - Maintain the daily activities of the laboratory, including stock management and general support. [Desired Qualifications]: - PhD or Master's degree in Genomics, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific field, with 3-4 years of experience. - Good working knowledge of NGS platforms and molecular biology techniques, including experience with human blood samples, PBMC, and tissues. - Proficiency in Illumina's NGS and single-cell RNAseq technologies (e.g., 10X Genomics). - Ability to interact with lab members and respond to customer inquiries. - Familiarity with Excel, excellent organizational skills, and strong communication skills. [Education & Experience]: - Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field with two years of relevant work experience, or Master's degree in a related scientific field. [Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities]: - Comprehensive understanding of scientific principles. - General computer skills and ability to learn and master scientific applications. - Strong analytical skills, excellent judgment, and attention to detail. - Ability to work under deadlines with minimal guidance. - Excellent organizational skills and ability to complete detailed work accurately. [Physical Requirements]: - Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, grasp objects, perform computer tasks, and lift objects over 40 pounds. - Occasionally sit, kneel, reach, and work above shoulders. - Rarely climb, scrub, or operate hand and foot controls. - Must have correctible vision. - Ability to bend, squat, kneel, stand, reach above shoulder level, and move on hard surfaces for up to eight hours. - Ability to lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds. - Ability to work in a dusty, dirty, and odorous environment. - Position may require repetitive motion.
