Job Opportunity - Life Science Research Professional

We are currently seeking a Life Science Research Professional 1 for our Canary Center, a state-of-the-art facility focused on early cancer detection programs.
About the Canary Center
The Canary Center at Stanford is dedicated to discovering and implementing minimally invasive diagnostic and imaging strategies for the early detection and prognostication of cancers. We integrate research on both in vivo and in vitro diagnostics, working in collaboration with experts in molecular imaging, proteomics, chemistry, cell and molecular biology, and bioinformatics. Our initiatives have a direct pipeline for translating early cancer detection research into clinical trials and practice, through our close ties with the Stanford Cancer Institute.
Your Duties
- Plan and conduct experiments related to research projects in the lab or field.
- Independently perform experiments with cells, clinical samples, and extracellular vesicles, maintaining detailed records.
- Analyze experiment results, apply scientific principles, and offer recommendations for protocol modifications.
- Stay up to date with relevant literature and contribute to publications.
- Assist with general lab maintenance and provide training to new staff or students.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, immunology, or a related field.
- Preferred: More than 2 years of previous lab experience.
- Experience with human clinical samples, molecular and immunological assays, and laboratory techniques.
- Attention to detail, ability to follow protocols, and accurately analyze data.
- General understanding of scientific principles and excellent organizational skills.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- May require standing, walking, lifting objects up to 40 pounds, and other physical tasks.
- Must have correctable vision and ability to work on hard surfaces for extended periods.
- Position may involve working with hazardous materials and infectious diseases, requiring protective equipment.

Desired Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in biology, molecular biology, immunology, or related field.
- Previous lab experience of more than 2 years preferred.
- Experience with handling human clinical samples, molecular and immunological assays, and laboratory techniques.
- Attention to detail when performing experiments, analyzing data, and reporting findings.
- Ability to follow protocols and understand each step and reagent in experiments.
Education & Experience (Required):
Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Required):
- General understanding of scientific principles with demonstrated ability to apply them.
- Ability to maintain detailed records and quickly learn and master computer programs.
- Ability to work under deadlines with guidance and complete detailed work accurately.
Working Conditions:
- May involve working with blood borne pathogens or animals used for research.
- Position may require working with hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases.
- Employee must follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment as necessary.
- May require extended or unusual work hours based on research requirements.
