    The Construction Inspector performs the quality control (QC) function over the work and is responsible for the completion of all activities in his area of assignment in accordance with the appropriate specifications and the approved construction drawings. The areas of inspection will include, but are not limited to, the following: • Excavation • Damage Prevention • Trenching & Shoring • Conduit Installation • Concrete (Forms, Rebar & Testing) • Backfill & Stabilization • Clean-Up The inspector works under the direction of the Company Superintendent and may be assigned additional responsibilities as required. The inspector acts as a representative of the Company and is expected to establish a professional business relationship with contractors, suppliers, vendors, other stakeholders, and Company personnel. The inspector is required to act in an ethical manner and should be aware of Company policies regarding work ethics, including but not limited to gifts, entertainment, trips, etc. offered by contractors, vendors, suppliers, or other stakeholders. The inspector provides quality assurance through inspection of work and materials for conformance to requirements. The inspector is to respect the role of the contractor which allows the contractor to select the means, methods, and manner to perform the work. The inspector does not direct or supervise the contractor’s work. The inspector is empowered with the Stop Work Authority and is expected to shut down any unsafe work. The inspector is to complete required documentation (i.e. reports and log books) in a timely, concise, and accurate manner. The inspector receives frequent instruction and direction from his superior and the work of the inspector is checked on a frequent basis by the Chief Inspector or delegate. The inspector is not to inspect work he is not qualified to inspect. Responsibilities: • An Inspector will be required to inspect work performed by construction contractors and supervised by Company representatives assuring adherence to specifications, proper work methods, and appropriate use of facilities and equipment. • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, maps, plans, specifications, and procedures. They must possess the ability to keep accurate and detailed field records including daily job reports, material usage and locations, and field test records. • Be knowledgeable in the requirements of OSHA. All inspectors will be required to ensure that any job they’re overseeing is maintained in a safe manner and meets or exceeds safety and environmental policies and procedures. Inspectors will need to make sure the contractor’s equipment is being used within their limits. • Present a neat appearance. Have strong communication skills to interact and coordinate professionally, on a daily basis. • Have strong organizational skills to complete daily paperwork, maps, and documentation with a clear comprehension of construction units of measurement. • Be able to understand and implement Electric Standards and Work Procedures. • Inspectors must be able to understand and implement all Environment, Health, and Safety Plan (E-HASP) requirements. Ensures that each contractor complies with the respective environmental rules and regulations for each respective project location. • Be capable of handling customer inquiries and complaints in a professional and courteous manner. • Provide input in conjunction with Quality Assurance field visits. • Assist in the Contractor Performance evaluation process. • Be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed. Qualifications: Qualifications • Have a minimum of three (3) years prior experience and training in excavation, road, or utility construction with an emphasis on electric installations, plastic pipe installation, welding, and steel pipe fitting. Inspectors will be required to oversee construction projects on Overhead and Underground Electric Transmission, Substation, Overhead and Underground Distribution, Environmental, Facilities, and other types of electric utility projects. • Have a minimum of a High School diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent work experience. • An Inspector may be required to oversee multiple construction projects at varying stages at one time (from designing to completed final folder close out). • An Inspector must possess managerial skills, computer literacy, and a working knowledge of the utility industry. Compensation: $100,000+ yearly
