    About the Position:

    Johnson Lambert is one of the nation's largest insurance-focused public accounting firms that provides audit, tax and consulting services.     We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. At Johnson Lambert we relentlessly strive to advocate for our clients and employees, and inspire an environment that embodies agility, respect, and trust.

    As a Staff Accountant, you will work collaboratively with professional staff to perform or assist in effectively executing various aspects of the daily internal accounting process. This position will be hybrid, requiring 2-3 days per week minimum in the Raleigh office.

    Primary Tasks and Responsibilities:

    • Assist with month end close process
    • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations
    • Code invoices and assist in accounts payables processes
    • Reconcile cash disbursements and manage accounts receivable collections
    • Provide outside auditors with assistance; gather necessary documents and account information to perform annual 401k audit
    • Assist in filing various tax payments and property tax forms to state and local agencies
    • Ensure accurate and timely processing of semi-monthly payroll

    Essential Qualities and Skills:

    • Familiarity with basic accounting principles, procedures, and terminology
    • Superb editing, proofreading and grammar skills
    • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
    • Ability and willingness to learn new software applications with assistance and training
    • Capacity to analyze data and draw logical conclusions
    • Work collaboratively with team members across all business units
    • Effective interpersonal skills, with an ability to interface with clients, personnel and service providers at all levels
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Follow written and oral directions and instructions; maintain client confidentiality
    • A self-starter with a service-minded attitude
    • Highly organized and structured when approaching tasks and responsibilities
    • Ability to effectively manage conflicting priorities and organize workflow
    • Ability to work flexible schedule depending on on business needs

    Desired Education & Experience:

    • At minimum an Associate’s degree in Accounting and 3+ years of experience in a similar role
    • Advanced Microsoft Office and Google Suite experience
    • Prior experience with accounting and/or tax software a plus
    • Experience with Certinia (formerly FinancialForce) or Salesforce desired
    • Remote work experience preferred
